Post USB Loader Channel 3D spinning hard disk (UPDATE-LANGUAGE)
Multi language silver version:
Attachment:
File comment: Tested and working.
21Jan10: Italian wording updated

USB Channel MultiLangV2i - USBQ.wad [1.73 MiB]
Downloaded 86 times

Please post any errors in this thread and I will fix them.

ID: USBQ

Attempts to load in this order (I think):
*Forwarder displays a splash screen while loading dol(or elf). Based on forwarder by USB Loader GX team.
*Will try to read path from sd:\forwarders\usbloader.cfg and load boot.dol(or elf) from there, else:
USB:\apps\usbloader\boot.dol (and boot.elf)
SD:\apps\usbloader\boot.dol (and boot.elf)
Return to the SystemMenu.

I've updated this to be multi-language. Now this channel shows different text depending on the language setting in the wii settings menu.

Hover text in channel menu and wording in top right of banner:
JAP: USB チャンネル (referred to Internet Channel)
ENG: USB Channel (wilsoff)
GER: USB Kanal (Leathl)
FRA: Chaîne USB (mastacut)
SPA: Canal USB (alejandroues)
ITA: Canale USB (referred to Internet Channel)
NED: USB Kanaal (TheLizard)

Wording in the banner:
JAP: してくださいUSBドライブに接続します。
ENG: Please connect a USB drive. (wilsoff)
GER: Bitte schliess ein USB-Laufwerk an. (Leathl and Blue-K)
FRA: Veuillez connecter un disque USB. (mastacut)
SPA: Por favor conecta la unidad USB. (alejandroues)
ITA: Collega l'unità USB. (XGekoX)
NED: Sluit een USB-drive aan. (TheLizard)

Thanks to:
CountZero - for cutting the black images off the background.
rYU89 - for cutting the silver images off the background.
USB Loader GX / Lemonman - for the forwarder.
alejandroues - for the edits and mods to the wad.
vetacossx - for his excellent video!!
Leathl - for CustomizeMii
megazig et al - benzin

Historical shizz - no need to read
This updated version features a silver hard drive and is better quality than the first attempt with the black drive.

*Forwarder displays a splash screen while loading dol(or elf). Based on forwarder by USB Loader GX team.
*Will try to read path from sd:\forwarders\usbloader.cfg and load boot.dol(or elf) from there.
*If that fails it will try to load sd:\apps\usbloader\boot.dol(or elf).
*If that fails it will return to the SystemMenu.

From alejandroues - http://www.mediafire.com/?r1gtmtkjw9d
The package includes:
*USB Loader-USBL_eng_connect.wad
- changed the forwarder dol (the forwarder loads the same file)
*USB Loader-USBL_eng_start.wad.
- Modified to say: "Press start to begin."
*USB Loader-USBL_esp_conecta.wad.
- With the text: "Por favor conecta la unidad USB." and "Canal USB"
*USB Loader-USBL_esp_comenzar.wad
- With the text: "Presiona comenzar para iniciar." and "Canal USB"

Older Black Hard Drive Version:

There's also a black hard drive version, but this was the first attempt and the images have lossy compression, so are a little rough, and posterised. It's here if you want it:

DOWNLOAD:
http://www.mediafire.com/file/m2jjt2hun ... l-USBX.zip

(I hope that's the right link, wadder crashed and deleted the attachments, and won't let me upload at the moment)

Other Colours:

There are four different coloured hard drives available with the right image set, but it will need to some work to insert them. It's a case of grabbing all 35 images and putting each one onto the images in the channel which can be done with WADder. If you're doing this make sure you use the same image on each frame or the shadow will move at the wrong times. See http://www.wdc.com/en/products/index.asp?cat=9

If you want a head start. Here are the original black images, before they were degraded or cut off the background http://www.mediafire.com/file/oaymebxec ... mation.zip

It's actually not too bad, for thistype of animation you only need one image in the brlyt, the rest is done in the brlan. I wrote a spreadsheet to help write the animation, it's on google docs for others to use, and there's a link to it on the wiki: http://wadder.net/wiki/index.php/Brlan_RLTP

Using this technique it's "easy" to add frames to any image in an existing wad. No brlyt editing required, its all done in the brlan.

An odd question but does this actually detect your HDD or would that be a bastard to write? :|

Is it possible to change "Please connect a USB device" to "Press start to begin."?

Awesome update there, you've done quite some work.

I would also suggest to change the text. If I wish to use this for people's children's Wii they may get confused :D

@666 - As far as I know this isn't possible for us mere (non Ninty) mortals... but I'm fully accepting that I may be wrong.

@everyone else - changing the text is easy... load it up in wadder, get to the point when you can start substituting images and then browse for banner.brlyt in c:\program files\wadder or c:\wadtemp and either use a hex editor or benzin to edit the text. Then repack the wad with wadder.
