WADs

There are a few different types of WADs out there. All have the .wad file extension.

Custom Channel WADs

These WADs are used with WADder and, when installed, load a dol directly from the Wii's Home Menu, or in the case of a DOL forwarder, load it from the SD card. The difference between these and the WiiWare (WW) and Virtual Console (VC) WADs is that they are not Official Nintendo WADs. e.g., the Homebrew Channel.

WiiWare/Virtual Console WADs

These WADs can be used with WADder as well. The WW WADs usually have awesome animations, and are a favorite to use as a base WAD. VC WADs are not so awesome because of their basic animations.

Any other WAD

These WADs do not install a channel onto the Wii's Home Menu, and CANNOT be used with WADder. All have their own use, and should be used as per the usually supplied readme or instructions. These WADs include IOS WADs, System Menu WADs, and other WADs.
